Question Dragon Festival?

I have been hearing rumors that the Dragon Festival isn't going to happen and i was wondering if that is true or not.

I heard that rumor last year, and it happened anyway.

But remember, it's a rumor.

I could probably see ANet not doing it for the simple fact they might be working on XTH and be to busy to do the Dragon Festival, but that would be very lazy on their part.

Dragon Festival isn't that much work, since they already have the code and stuffs. It will happen.

They can't slack off on something simply because they actually have something else to do. Removing a regular event for a weak reason like that would cause a massive upset with the fans of that event. Anet already has a bad enough reputation. Besides, I think they have more than 5 people working to maintain guildwars. Its not like its just one guy with a fridge full of dew.

Dragonfest will happen as it always has. I just hope we get a new mask this time instead of the same recycled mask from last year and the year before that.

What would the fans think if the provider started showing massive neglect to this game? They would expect the same treatment on the next game and wouldn't bother to even purchase gw2.

We won't forget any ill treatment just because gw2 is released and anet/ncsoft doesnt want bad release numbers. So they will do what they are expected to do. Which is maintain the game and all its functions or lose more and more players.

But that won't happen, so no worries.

After all the recent screw up's such as XTH , extremely late skill updates etc i seriously doubt that they would cancel the Dragon festival ,the code already exsists , all they have to do is add it to the update before the festival is due to go live (thats my basic understanding of how it works anyways :P).

When did they recycle a mask for the Dragon festival? 2006 it was the Dragon mask , 2007 it was the Demon mask and last year it was the Grasping mask , none of which even look similar. Its the Canthan new year where we get the same mask year after year :P

The Dragon Festival i already coded from last year. At the very least it's just a case of updating the dates, and re-running the already mostly written code if they're too busy to introduce something new. It's not like they'd have to impliment from scratch.

Besides, whilst the live team is smaller than it once was, I doubt that means they don't have enough people to work on 2 things at once

Remember that episode of southpark where cartman discovers who makes up the ideas for family guy? I'm starting to wonder about Anet.

Instead of hiring additional staff for GW2 they went the cheap-ass way and removed the people needed to keep GW1 going strong.

Remember, the Dragon Festivals haven't started until the first week of July. So if you should worry about the even coming or not, it's when it didn't happen when it's supposed to.

2008: announced on June 26th; started on July 3rd (announced 8 days prior)

(I've omitted the Redux because I don't think that one's too relevant.)

2007: announced on July 3rd; started on 6th (announced 3 days prior)

2006: announced on June 23rd; began on 30th (announced 7 days prior)

So...that's quite a range...it could be announced within the next few days, or it could be announced during the week it'll begin.

2007: announced on July 3rd; started on 6th (announced 3 days prior)

It was generally the weekend after teh 4th, But since the 4th is on a weekend, I would assume it iwll be the 3rd - 5th, with the finale on the 5th.

How do you figure? Shewmake posted the complete list above, and only one of the three was the weekend after the fourth. I don't see how that establishes a general rule.
